Honda LPGA Thailand 2024 Invites Golf Fans to Participate in “Handcrafting Bra Prostheses for Breast Cancer Fighters” Program

(Chonburi – February 22, 2024) – Honda LPGA Thailand 2024 organized “Handcrafting Bra Prostheses for Breast Cancer Fighters” Program during the tournament week from February 22-25, 2024, at Siam Country Club Old Course, Pattaya, Chonburi Province.

Apart from developing and elevating the Thai golf industry to global recognition, this year, Honda LPGA Thailand 2024 has also organized a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity under the program “Handcrafting Bra Prostheses for Breast Cancer Fighters” in collaboration with Sabina Public Company Limited. Fans are invited to join the activity of making prosthetic breasts between February 22-25, from 11:00-15:00 hours at the Fan Zone, Siam Country Club Old Course. The aim of this program is to donate 400 sets of prosthetic breasts to breast cancer patients in need at Chonburi Cancer Hospital. Two golfers, Ariya Jutanugarn, former world number 1 and champion of Honda LPGA Thailand 2021, and Lucy Li, a rising American golf star, also participated in this event.

The National Cancer Center Thailand reports that in the year 2022, the top five cancers among the Thai population were liver bile duct cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and cervical cancer. There were approximately 140,000 cancer patients per year on average (around 400 people per day), and the trend shows an increasing number each year, especially among women with breast cancer (constituting 34.2% of all cancers, approximately 18,000 people per year), with a projected increase to 22,000 people in the year 2024 (about 60 people per day).

The organizing committee of Honda LPGA Thailand 2024 are mindful of the impact of breast cancer, a leading cause of death among Thai women. Therefore, this initiative aims to contribute to raising awareness about the disease on a larger scale, providing assistance, and offering encouragement by addressing gaps to restore quality of life and mental well-being for affected women.
